Monowall auf HD - Installation klappt nicht.

Hallo
Ich wollte eigentlich M0n0wall auf HDD installieren -damit ich schon mal weis wie es geht- befohr ich mir das DoM kaufe.
Aber so einfach scheint das nicht zu sein.
Ob mit DSL, Knoppix oder am zweiten Rechner mit Ubuntu, keine der Installationsversuche hat geklappt.
In der verzweifling hab ich anstelle eine leeren Platte ohne Partition, eine Platte mit einer ext3 Partition und Bootflag erstellt. Aber auch mit dieser Platte scheiterte mein Installationsveruch. Dabei scheint die intallation gar nicht so schwehr zu sein.
Linux: gunzip -c generic-pc-xxx.img | dd of=/dev/hdX bs=16k where X = the IDE device name of your HD/CF card (check with hdparm -i /dev/hdX) - some CF adapters, particularly USB, may show up under SCSI emulation as /dev/sdX (ignore the warning about trailing garbage - it's because of the digital signature)
Oder mit DSL..
* download and burn Damn Small Linux to a CD-R/RW disk
* boot target PC with the Damn Small Linux CD
* download the latest generic-pc m0n0wall image to the /ramdisk/home/dsl folder using the Dillo web browser
* in a root shell, execute the following commands: cfdisk (cfdisk has the big benefit of showing you the exact Linux device name of your HD/CF. Do not create any file systems using cfdisk - the dd command will do that instead) * gunzip -c /ramdisk/home/dsl/generic-pc-xxx.img | dd of=/dev/xxx bs=16k where xxx = the IDE device name of your HD/CF card (e.g. "hda")
* shut down PC
* remove the Damn Small Linux CD and reboot
* assign functions (LAN/WAN/OPT) to your interfaces (hint: use auto-detection, or let the MAC addresses tell you which card is which one)
* change the LAN IP address, or use the default (192.168.1.1; m0n0wall acts as a DHCP server by default)
* access the webGUI (user: 'admin', default password: 'mono')
* make the necessary changes to the default configuration
Giebt es bei der Installation auf HDD sonst noch was zu berücksichtigen?
Oder einen kleinen Trick?

Was funktioniert denn nicht? Das Kopieren des Images oder das Booten? Was bekommst du für Fehlermeldungen?

Das booten hat lange nicht geklappt, inzwischen ist aber das problem gelöst.
Ich hab das so gelöst das ich -an stelle "gunzip -c /ramdisk/home/dsl/generic-pc-xxx.img | dd of=/dev/xxx bs=16k where xxx"- direckt in das verzeichnis gewechslt habe, und dann nur noch "gunzip -c generic-pc-xxx.img | dd of=/dev/xxx bs=16k where xxx" eingegeben habe.
Danach hat auch das booten funktioniert. :)
